Hello Yogis.
Happy New Year to you all!
Let’s start this new year in a way that will inspire and uplift. After a year of difficulties, I am so excited as to what this new journey will entail!
Do you ever sit and reflect on your life with honesty and clarity?
How much of your life, do you really feel empowered with, and how much do you feel you are just participating in?
We all have wants, needs and desires. We all have regrets, resentments and disappointments.
How many times have you thought that you were not achieving in a way you would have liked? Maybe you realise you don’t know what you actually want to achieve and just feel as though you are existing.
The vacuum that both of these states can bring, can be disempowering and can leave one feeling uninspired and unfulfilled in life.
Knowing that you are the reflection life will mirror back to you and that the circumstances of life are such an opportunity for you to see yourself though their prompting; you can start to recognise that whatever circumstances you are experiencing at any given time, your innate inner response and subsequent outer result is directly influenced by the way you react and receive the life that is being delivered through you and into your reality.
My life is far from perfect, with some real life challenges knocking at my door.
I am working really hard to feel and sense my role in these circumstances. Where can I influence them and how. Maybe I can’t change certain things, but I can adapt my inner and outer response to not encourage more negativity.
I was watching Amadeus movie yesterday, I will try not to ruin the plot for those who haven’t seen it, but the basic gist of the story is that a young composer Antonio Salieri, wants so much to be able to communicate the words of God through music and composition, that he devotes his whole life to God, remaining righteous, and doing as his religious background says he should do, to be the most perfect representation of a religious man so that God would reward him with the talent he so very much wants, to be the best composer and to be recognised as such. He works hard to learn music despite the profound lack of support from his father he finds himself as the royal musician who teaches the emperor how to play and read music, writing operas and serving his majesty.
Along comes Motzart, who has been effortlessly writing symphonies since he was 4 years old, with his father by his side, encouraging him along the way and driving his talent further. His musical talent is such a gift, that symphonies seem to stream out of him, with such ease that all of his musical writings are written without the need for corretion; as if he is literally hearing the music before he writes and it’s perfect every time. He is successful and everyone loves him.
Motzart is, in contrast to Salieri, very wayward in his behaviour and this further infuriates Salieri because he sees that God has given Motzart all that talent, while Motzart is not serving God at all. Salieri becomes really resentful of Mozart’s achievement. He plots against Mozart in ways I won’t mention, incase you want to watch the movie.
The message I received from the film was that Salieli, instead of seeing Gods gift in his association with such a talent as Motzart, and allowing Motzart to inspire him so that he can become the best composer he can be, he turns dark and envious and instead ends up in a very sorry state. If he had noticed Gods gift of Motzart, rather than as a recognition of his own inability but instead as an opportunity to learn and become the best of himself, he would not have rotted in resentment and the hatefulness that eventually became his downfall.
Salieli’s inner state changed from the positive, learning and growing attitude, the passion and love he had, which enabled him to reach so far as to become the Emperors composer and teacher, to allowing an inner shift that nosed dived him off his upward path and into the ground.
There is a message here, do not allow yourself to just aim for the final outcome, instead, aim at just doing your best, if you keep your upward motion and passion for something, moment by moment, you will reach the goal that is right for you. You will also feel blessed because you had given it your all. This increases your confidence and also the likelihood of success.
As we move into 2026, what passions do you have that can bring the best out in you, not necessarily those that appear to bring you the best practically, and in the eyes of others, but inwardly? That inner drive and passion that lifts your spirits and that keeps you excited about every new day!
It’s not what you achieve but how you go about achieving anything that counts.
Remember to fill your life with things that inspire the best of yourself! When facing challenging times, ask these questions of yourself ‘How am I learning from this situation?’ ‘What am I bringing to this situation that is of benefit?’ ‘How can my positivity bring change to or influence positively, this situation, or myself through inner understanding and knowledge?’
Things are never stuck, energy is always moving, things are always changing, WE are the ones who usually hold a situation in a negative frequency and therefore prolong it. We have an attitude that reflects “I don’t like this situation, therefore I am not going to give positivity to it, instead I will feed it negativity’ In doing this, we stop any positive change we could inspire and just further reinforce the negative situation.
This is a hard lesson to learn but it is one that is so useful when trying to improve.
Some things are not meant to happen now, but the holding pattern of waiting, may be an opportunity for you to make the inner shift necessary for the external situation to blossom into existence for you!
